• Purpose
  SOE aims to be an amateur symphony orchestra focused on studying and performing a wide spectrum of symphonic music. SOE is aimed at advanced amateurs and people with vocational training who no longer work in music. Fun in playing is paramount, but the aim is to achieve a high musical level. An additional goal is to stimulate amateur music practice in the region.

• Policy plan
  The policy of SOE is focused on the following items:
  a: Raise the interest of the members
  This is done by playing varied and challenging programs. The orchestra has a program committee consisting of members of the orchestra and the conductor appointed by the board. The orchestra also organizes activities outside normal concerts, such as an annual chamber music evening, a barbecue or concert trips abroad. An annual evaluation among the members ensures that members remain involved and that adjustments can be made in time.
  b: High musical quality level
  The following measures have been taken to ensure this:
  -A professional conductor has the musical direction of the orchestra.
  -Members audition before joining.
  -Vacant positions are filled in by good substitute players.
  c: Stimulation of music practice in the region
  Every year SOE organizes a family concert specifically aimed at youth. This is a performance that is accompanied by dance and actors and in which there is collaboration with, for example, a youth orchestra. After the performance, children can try out instruments themselves.
  SOE also collaborates with various other companies in the region.

• Remuneration policy
  None of the members receive a reward for the work. Expenses are made on the basis of the costs actually incurred. As a professional force, the conductor receives a competitive fee for the performance of his assignment.
