Michiel van Vliet (born 1982) has been the conductor of the Eindhoven Symphony Orchestra since August 2025. He has more than 15 years of experience conducting symphony orchestras in Amsterdam, Utrecht, Rotterdam, and Gorinchem.
Michiel graduated cum laude in classical percussion and conducting. During his percussion studies, he was able to substitute with almost all the top professional orchestras in the Netherlands.
As a conductor, he is known for his great passion for music and has won numerous awards for his beautiful interpretations. With a clear narrative and delicate movements, he conveys his love, respect, and knowledge of the score to the orchestra and the audience. His musical and efficient approach creates an atmosphere in which soloists and orchestras excel.
In March 2020, Michiel van Vliet won the international conducting competition in Denver with, among others, the 6and Tchaikovsky's Symphony and Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition.
His debut with the Eindhoven Symphony Orchestra will take place in December 2025 with a concert on the theme of WATER, including the beautifully haunting The Sea by Frank Bridge.
